Description

Day 1: Arrival at Manas Airport. Transfer to a cozy guest house, about a 40-minute scenic drive from the airport (25km). Explore the vibrant city of Bishkek with a guided tour. Rest for the night at the guest house, nestled at an elevation of 900m.

Day 2: Departure from the guest house towards Tamga, situated along the southern shores of the enchanting Lake Issyk-Kul. Enjoy a picturesque journey of approximately 4-5 hours (324km). En route, embark on a captivating hike through the mesmerizing Fairy Tale Canyon for 1-2 hours (5km). Spend the night at a charming guest house, embracing the elevation of 1700m.

Day 3: Journey to the Jeti-Oguz valley, a 2-hour drive (70km) from the guest house. Learn the basics of horseback riding and horse control before embarking on a thrilling horse ride to Kyzyl-Jar valley (2800m) for 3-4 hours (10km). Camp under the starry sky in tents at an elevation of 2800m.

Day 4: Continue your horseback adventure to the tranquil Irdyk Lakes, a serene journey of 2-3 hours (6km). Spend the night camping beside the lakes at an elevation of 2800m.

Day 5: Ride your horse through the picturesque Kashka-Suu valley for approximately 5-6 hours (22km). Camp overnight surrounded by nature at an elevation of 2000m.

Day 6: Embark on a scenic horse ride to the rejuvenating Altyn-Arashan hot springs, a journey of 4-5 hours (18km). Unwind in the soothing hot springs and camp nearby at an elevation of 2500m.

Day 7: Trek to the summit of the breathtaking Alakul Pass on foot, reaching an elevation of 3860m. Marvel at the stunning views of Ala-Kul Lake from the pass during the 7-8 hour trek (25km). Return to Altyn-Arashan by horseback and camp for the night at an elevation of 2500m.

Day 8: Ride your horse to the summit of Alma-Luu Pass, reaching an elevation of 3600m, then descend into Alma-Luu valley over 5-6 hours (18km). Camp overnight amidst the picturesque valley at an elevation of 2000m.

Day 9: Continue your horseback journey to Jolkolot village for 4-5 hours (16km). Transfer to Karakol for a traditional dinner with a Uygur family. Overnight stay in a guest house at an elevation of 1670m.

Day 10: Explore the charming city of Karakol with a guided tour, then travel to Cholpon-Ata city, a 3-4 hour drive (130km). Relax and unwind at a guest house nestled at an elevation of 1600m.

Day 11: Depart from the guest house and journey back to Bishkek, a scenic drive of 4-5 hours (324km). Along the way, visit an open-air museum of petroglyphs and the historic Burana Tower. Overnight stay at a guest house in Bishkek at an elevation of 900m.

Day 12: Transfer to Manas Airport, concluding your unforgettable journey through the mesmerizing landscapes of Kyrgyzstan.

Personnel

The price listed above includes food, rental equipment and transportation for the personnel.

EcoTrek will provide an experienced mountain guide. The guides are all well educated in trekking and mountain safety.

EcoTrek will provide one porter for each client. The porters can carry up to 15 kilos. The porters will carry all food and camping equipment for the entire trek. Typically our clients carry a small backpack which contains water, snacks, and 1 or 2 items of clothing during the trek. An additional porter can be provided for €35 per day.

EcoTrek will provide a professional mountain cook. The cook will prepare national dishes for the trip from fresh and ecologically clean products. Please inform your chef if you are a vegetarian or have allergies. If there are more than 7 customers, an assistant mountain cook is provided.

Climate

Kyrgyzstan has a continental climate. The sun shines over 200 days a year. The temperature during the summer months can range from 20ºC to 40ºC between 900-2000m elevation; between 3000-4000 m the temperature ranges from 0ºC to 20ºC. In Kyrgyzstan the weather can change 3-4 times a day. Be aware sometimes you may experience rainy, snowy and sunny weather in the same day.

You need to bring

Winter jacket, sleeping bag rated for -26ºC to 0ºC, rain gear, 2-3 pairs of wool socks, waterproof trekking boots, gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen with high UV-protection, lip balm with UV-protection.

EcoTrek will provide the necessary trekking equipment

A 2 person 3 season tent and a sleeping mat. EcoTrek will also provide a kitchen for the cook and dining area for the clients to eat their meals. If client wants to stay in single tent there is a cost of €5 per day.

Food during the trek

Breakfast: hot cereal or fried eggs, cheese, honey, bread, butter, coffee and tea. Lunch: salads, sandwiches, fruit, coffee and tea.

Snack: cookies, coffee and tea.

Dinner: soup, second course, cheese, honey, dried fruit, bread, coffee and tea.

Insurance

It is strongly recommended that all clients have proper insurance to cover any illnesses, helicopter evacuation and transportation to their country of origin. In the event of an emergency EcoTrek will do everything in its power to assist clients. Please contact your Embassy to find the best travelers insurance policy for your stay in Kyrgyzstan.

Terms & Conditions

EcoTrek needs to be paid in full before the trek starts. If the client cancels the trek before the agreed upon start date, EcoTrek will keep a 15 % cancelation fee. Clients who return early from a trek are not eligible for a refund for the personnel/food unless injury, illness or natural events forces the trek to end early.

All prices are listed in EUROS and these prices are valid throughout 2023. EcoTrek will prepare a receipt for the payment. Please note that bank transfers will cost an additional 7 % for the transaction fee. We request that a 15% deposit is paid 15 days before the start of the trek.

Note:

EcoTrek provides a basic first aid kit. It is recommended to bring your own altitude sickness tablets, digestive tablets, and any other additional medication needed during your trek.
